Although Helsinki is the capital of Finland, it’s still relatively a rather small place. Everything comes together and you end up on the same places again and again – this was the case again with Hietaranta beach. But I’m glad that – at least on weekends – there’s always a free parking spot for my van.

It’s not very warm yet, thus the beach was empty – only a couple of tourists were looking at the sights and some eager volleyball players had taken themselves to practice for the upcoming summer season.

From Hietaniemi beach we drove to the centre of Helsinki and parked nearby of Kauppatori. It’s still not that warm, so after spending some time there we were in a need of hot chocolate (no, this is definitely not a reference to a certain video game’s controversial mod).

It’s rather nice to notice that – even in Finland – passerbys don’t react to the shiny material. People wear plenty of wetlook leggings during spring and autumn, thus a latex catsuit doesn’t stand out that much.

After messing around in the centre of Helsinki we drove back to Hietaniemi, where the model had the idea to be shot against the Sibelius monument. As this is the 150th year after Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’s birth – and as a person from Järvenpää, Sibelius’s home town, how could’ve I said no?

Besides, this was a great excuse to use my 11-24mm at its widest again. I’m an addict.

After a long day of shooting – what, ten hours – we headed back to model’s place to enjoy some tea and chat silly things about the meaning of life. The results were inconclusive.

As usual, the behind the scenes and outtake photos will be released few days after.
